Travels with my Tutu

BBC2, 1999
Director: Jill Marshall

Royal Ballet star Deborah Bull explores four dance styles alien to her professional career: jive, tango, belly dance and breakdance. In parks, supermarkets and underground car parks - as well as more conventional dance studios - she tries to teach her highly trained body to perform new tricks. Each programme culminates in its own challenge: a performance at Oxford Street's 100 Club, a duet with tango star Antonio 'Junior' Cervila, a spot in Maroush Restaurant on London's Edgware Road, and a throwdown at the Funkin' Pussy amongst the international crews gathered for the 1999 world breakdance championships.
